Injury clinic
RPM’s injury clinic includes a full examination and assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation exercises/home advice. Your first session will last for 75 minutes and then you will have the option of either a 45 minute or 60 minute follow up session.
Your first session
Your first session will include the following 3 steps...
Step 1. Full examination and assessment
The therapist will complete a thorough examination and assessment in order to understand the causes of the injury/pain and produce a clinical diagnosis. It will include:
-
Information about you; D.O.B, address, contact details, and occupation
-
Previous medical history
-
History regarding the presenting injury or condition and information regarding the current status of the injury or condition
-
Static postural assessment and touch of the injured area to detect temperature changes
-
Testing of joint range of movement, muscular strength, soft tissue and bony palpation as well as special tests for detection of specific injuries.
Step 2. Clinical diagnosis
Once the examination and assessment has been completed the therapist will discuss their findings with you and make a diagnosis. Your injury may not be due to one specific diagnosis and may be down to several combinations, however the therapist will explain everything they found to you to ensure you understand clearly.

Step 3. Treatment
Once everything has been explained the therapist will carry out the appropriate treatment. This may be a single treatment or combination of treatments depending on your needs. Treatments include:
-
Deep sports massage
-
Soft tissue release
-
Joint mobilisations
-
Stretching techniques
-
Kinesiology taping
-
Rehabilitation exercises

Your follow up sessions
Each of your follow up sessions will follow a similar pattern to your first session with the majority of the session focusing on treatment and rehabilitation for your injury. It will start with a discussion about how your injury/presenting concern has been since your last visit and a re-assesment of the areas of concern from your first session to see if anything has improved. The rest of the session will consist of treatment or rehabilitation exercises that will vary with the aim to help achieve both your long term and short term goals.
